BISHOPS OAST HOUSE – Porcelain Dickens Village lighted house- Issued in 1990, Retired in 1992. Bishops refers to a surname, not a religious figure. Oast houses dot the Kent Countryside. Many have been converted into private homes. An Oast house, might be thought of as a “roast house”. In this building, round cobblestone oasts contain a kiln for drying malt or hops to produce ale. It has a large attached barn and the exterior is finished as a rough cast surface over brick. Interior lights shine through the windows and doors which are slightly ajar. The light is supplied by an included switched wiring harness. An exterior side staircase, leads to upper floor. The original issue price was $45.
