Wayne Gretzky was arguably the best hockey player in NHL history. He holds many major records which will probably never be broken, such as Most career points 2857, Most career goals 894, Most goals in a season 92 (in 1981-82) and numerous others. He was so dominating a player that he earned the nickname “The Great One”. He wore number 99 and was a player for 20 years and then served several years as a Head Coach.
This is the smaller of 2 Gretzky figurines produced by Gartlan. It stands 4¾” tall, by 4 ½” with the hockey stick in his hands. The hockey stick comes separately and is placed in his hands when displaying the figurine. This is a porcelain cast numbered limited edition, issue size of 10,000. This is number 1845. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, and these figurines were personally approved by Gretzky. As with all Gartlan manufactured products, the detail is very good, as seen in the pictures. Note the raised lettering, number “99”, the captain’s “C” on the jersey, as well as the detail on the skate and helmet. Superior workmanship. The original issue price was $75.
